Fly Ecuador

Fly Ecuador Tour Information

Thermal Tracker Paragliding Tour to Ecuador

Tour Leaded by Advance Rated tandem instructor Kevin Lee and guided by the Ecuadorian pilots Juan Carrasco and Julian Larrea. Our tour will have a strong emphasis on supporting P-2 pilots with light airtime, or any pilot choosing to strengthen their present skills with instructional coaching, experienced critiquing and assigned tasks.

The tour will include inland exploration of the High Andes, with an emphasis on the indigenous cultures and communities, Inca and Preinca ruins, photography, and hiking natural ecosystem sites.

For strengthening your flying skills and accumulating airtime, the coastal portion of the tour will be the place. Miles of smooth coastal ridge sites will let you fly as relaxed as you can be. Past participants have accumulated over 6 hours in a day without landing. And of course, not to forget, instructional Tandem flights available, as well as warm water swimming and tasty food and cold drinks on the coast.

Land Cost

Accommodations

Our accommodations range from simply beautiful hostels to old haciendas high in the Andes. Very comfortable and nice beach resources at the coast region.

Weather information

Ecuador has two seasons high in the Andes: rainy and dry. Rainy goes from October down to May. During this time Jet Stream gets up higher from Andes peaks and allow the local weather to be generated. Strong thin-air winds go away and let hummed thick-air build up nice thermals for us to enjoy.  Mostly at this period looks to be rainy at night and sunny at the morning making weather more stable and predictable. Mid afternoon usually marks up the time for cloud developing due to ground heating.

Down at the cost region rain starts showing in the middle of February and stays until August. Rain makes the wind go away from the coast. This happens because hummed-ground temperature equals warm Pacific water thanks to El Niño Current.

One time out of 10 years of flying these coastal sites (Canoa and Crucita) we haven't had good wind for flying.

(This information may vary depending on Mother Earth’s Mood!)

Money

Ecuador currency is US Dollar. Travelers checks seems to be more emergency money than anything else. They are plenty accepted in Quito´s banks. Banks charge a percentage (some times up to 10%) and make you go through a big line to exchange those. Credit Cards are accepted. More than average they are added a percentage up to 10%.

ATMs work good in Quito. It is not a good a idea to relay on those machines out side the big city. They go out of order once in a while or they don't accept foreign cards.

Little towns out from Quito and markets (we are stopping at) will manage cash.

Food

Wait to try exotics fruit juices at breakfast and the delicious Ecuadorian dishes to judge. (We recommend U$ 35.00 for each day´s meals.)

Laundry

All places we are hanging out at will provide the service.
